I actually can’t wait to see Ben Affleck when he does his solo Batman film. Hopefully without the burden of DC universe cameos detracting from it.

Pure, undiluted Batman is all you need on this WB/DC. Don’t disappoint me.

    • Black Dragon says:

WB and DC have really been mismanaging their properties over the years. Yes, Batman is awesome, but it’s past time to get some others in there. I understand that they set up the Justice League, but it really shouldn’t have taken this long if they were looking to make superhero movies. They have relied too heavily on Batman, and now it seems like we’re all just waiting for the Batman movie, as opposed to being excited for some of the other characters.

For me, I just wish that there was a focus on a larger roster of DC heroes. And I wish that BvS was actually BvS minus the Dawn of Justice stuff.

As for the podcast, it was a great episode to be apart of. And yes, I was putting too much thought into some of the things in the movie. It’s a shame that I had to do that instead of the movie simply being made to entertain.

      • Axalon says:

They’ve tried. Nothing has been a solid hit in recent memory outside of Batman. When literally one character in your roster is the only one with success it makes sense that they want to double down on him.

It helps that Batman has the most iconic selection of villains in comic book history, with more easily recognizable villains than almost any three other superheroes combined (if we exclude Spider-Man’s own rogues gallery).

Superman’s been polarizing ever since Superman Returns/Man of Steel. One was an homage to the previous Christopher Reeves films, the other a darker and grittier reboot. Both films had mixed reactions, so it’s likely that WB/DC has no idea what people want since 70’s boy scout style cat-saving Superman and darker/grittier Superman are both polarizing.

If Superman, the most iconic character DC has up there with Batman, has a such a difficult time is it any wonder DC is afraid to use somewhat less popular heroes? Hell, even Marvel didn’t do anything with it’s less popular heroes for almost a decade until Sony and Fox paved the way with Spider-Man and X-Men.
