The Attic: Dude Bro Party Massacre 3

Untitled

Hello I am your lord of Shadow and today we look at the a film from the youtube sensation 5 second films. This is the Dude Bro Party Massacre 3.

Now before we get into this movie we need a little background. The series is basically a satire of old 80’s B horror flicks only with men in the roles the women usually played. That’s comedic in and of itself but add into that the shooting style which borrows heavily from the films it satires.

Now the story is set in a world where a gang of dude bros ran a panty raid on a sorority. Things go extremely poorly and they wind up burning the house to the ground with the sorority mother inside killing her. Now I’m not going to say they are colossal fuck ups but how do you go from stealing panties to arson and murder? Needless to say they somehow get off with no time. This is one of those cases of do you want a movie or not situations. No as happens in these films the mother rises from the grave for revenge.

This leads to the daughter of the mother from the first crime killing more dude bros in vengeance for her mothers death.

So that’s the back story and leads us to todays movie. First off let me say the effects are all practical no cgi in this movie. That’s impressive enough but add into that the use of models and real set and actually make up artist. The acting is exactly what you would expect from a movie called Dude Bro Party Massacre. If you do watch this movie don’t expect anything serious. This is satire and in this case well done satire. These guys are the modern day Mel Brooks taking a “serious” idea and making it comedic while not losing the core idea.

I’m not going to give away the plot as I do feel like if your going to see this and I highly recommend you do you should be as blind as you can to the story.

To put it in clear terms this movie does what many other films try to and fail at. It gives you that feeling of nostalgia for the movies of our youth while doing something new with it. Now I’ve only scratched the surface of this franchise and in this case that’s a good thing. I think if you like the classic horror films of the late 70’s early 80’s you will love this movie.

Props to 5 second films and I will watch there career with great interest.

Until next time I am you Lord of Shadows saying
