BTL Radio Podcast: Narrative Tools in Games, Movies, and Books

behindthelineradio-fin-cols-title

This week we welcome back star of stage and screen, Bill, to discuss what special tools video games have to convey a narrative or an emotional experience with a player.  Video games are still often looked at as the younger brother of film, but we need to recognize that while there are similarities, these two forms of media have different tools that they bring to the table.  Understanding that means we also need to analyze the other ways we have to tell stories, and what each of them is good at in order to see better what is so special about Video Games.  We cover various topics including movies based on video games, experimental narratives in books, playing with audience expectations, and more.  There is a lot we covered, and certainly a lot more we can talk about in the future, so if you think we missed anything, email me to call me out on it!

And before I forget, in the conversation, Bill brings up Aristotle’s rules of poetics, which have a wikipedia page here:
