The Attic: Halloween Complete Blu Ray Set

Welcome to The Attic! *cue Halloween theme*
We have BIG news this week, folks. Scream factory, along with Anchor Bay (who I adore for both their focus on the Horror genre and understanding of how to treat their fans) has announced that they will be releasing Halloween: The Complete Collection, a 15-disc box set on Blu-ray this September 23rd. The SRP will be $170. It’s a hefty price tag, but this thing will be brilliant. We’re talking a truly complete Halloween set, in collectible packaging. Every.single.one. Even the non-Myers Halloween III: Season of the Witch, through the latest remake, 2009’s Halloween II. The box art is amazing:

The set will include:

-Both the theatrical and made-for-TV extended cuts of the original. The first Blu-ray release as well as the 35th anniversary re-mastered release.

-Producers cut of Halloween: Curse of Michael Myers (aka Halloween 6) for the first time ever released

-Unrated versions of both Rob Zombie’s Halloween and Halloween II

-Brand new bonus features, including new interviews with the various casts

-Limited edition, 40-page book written by Fangoria’s Michael Gingold

-Each film will be boxed in its own Blu-ray case, unlike many box sets that are thrown into tiny, flimsy cases

There will also be a less-kitted-out, 10-disc set with fewer special features. It offers only theatrical cuts for a SRP of $130. I have to say this full set has me drooling, and when it comes to Halloween, go big or go home. This is one of THE horror film franchises and $170 for EVERYTHING and more, with even the packaging it deserves, hell I say shut up and take my money! Unlike a Nightmare on Elm Street, a Halloween complete set has never been assembled. Friday the 13th even released a near complete set. The problem was the Halloween films were released by different companies over the years and this must have taken a lot of wheeling and dealing to house them all in one set. This is truly a horror event not to be missed.

What are you looking forward to most? For me, it’s a tie: Halloween’s extended cut, and H20. The original is my favorite horror movie of all time, and this release will include the extended cut, which I prefer. It includes scenes that were added later in order to fit time slot requirements for TV. H20 has also always held a special place in my heart. I remember watching it for the first time and feeling like a little kid that found her way back home again. It’s almost… comforting. It’s a total throwback to the original and while I adore each and every Halloween film, it has the ability to stand alone as the only sequel. I’ll keep you updated on more information as it becomes available

I think I have only seen bits and pieces of a few movies (I may have seen all of H20 a long time ago). If all, or at least most us, the entire franchise gets the thumbs up from the Dark Princess, then I think I might be interested in the less-kitted-out edition.

I was quickly skimming Wikipedia to check the movies to see if any stood out that I remembered watching and I noticed that it did say there was a complete set released in 2004 that contained the first 8 movies. I assume it was complete at the rime without the latest two movies.

I also take it Rob Zombie is done making Halloween movies?

I believe that set was only in the UK but I could be wrong. Good catch though, and I should have been more clear 🙂
Yeah there were talks of a 3D I believe, possibly with Rob, but from what I’ve heard it got held off, possibly for good

Quite an awesome collection, though it’s paradoxical how it includes both my favorite movie of all time and my least favorite movie of all time. That also makes it hard to justify.

Still, if it includes a non-rough edit of the Halloween 6 Producer’s Cut, it’d be worth it for that alone (though I’m skeptical a non-rough version of the Producer’s Cut exists at all).

LOL, I know what you mean. May I ask which one your least fav is?

Rob Zombie’s Halloween. That movie is just a mess of half-baked ideas that vary from unintentionally hilarious to trashy pseudo-psychology, and the backstory added to the movie doesn’t gel with the abridged events of the first movie at all, making it feel like two stories awkwardly stapled together. That isn’t even touching the dialogue, continuity, horrible cinematography, waste of several decent actors, repetitive story elements (because the movie can’t seem to go 5 minutes without “OMG BLOOD EVERYWHERE!”), etc.

At least his rendition of Halloween 2 knew that it wanted to be its own thing, and it’s so ridiculous that I enjoy watching it in a so-bad-it’s-good way.

Yes!!! Thank you!! Couldn’t agree more. I’m one of those completists haha, so I’m glad it’s included in that sense. I hate it too

Be sure and check out the update guys!!
