Carrie Fisher 1956-2016 Rest In Peace

Hey there, Enthusiacs. I am Vega Goose, and today, I’d like to take a moment to pay tribute to Carrie Fisher, who passed away on December 27th 2016.

Rather than just run through her career like a glorified wikipedia page I’m going to stick to what I believe is her lasting legacy.

Over the last twenty five years the more I learned about Carrie Fisher the more impressed I was, not because she was a perfect role model, but quite the opposite. She was a real person with ups and downs and more personal demons that bloody supernatural. Yet through it all she always over came the odds. This attitude became an inspiration to me during some of the darker periods of my own life.

She was the kind of woman who saw both the light and dark sides of the world (star wars reference not intentional) More than that she was the kind of person who brightened the lives of those who knew her.

In the wake of her passing we have seen a huge outpouring of love and admiration from both fans and friends, this however isn’t very shocking as Fisher herself once said. “Everyone’s your best friend when you die.”

However I would like to bring attention to one particular statement released by her Star Wars Co-Star Mark Hamill

“It’s never easy to lose such a vital, irreplaceable member of the family, but this is downright heartbreaking. Carrie was one-of-a-kind who belonged to us all- whether she liked it or not. She was OUR Princess, damn it, & the actress who played her blurred into one gorgeous, fiercely independent & ferociously funny, take-charge woman who took our collective breath away. Determined & tough, but with a vulnerability that made you root for her & want her to succeed & be happy. She played such a crucial role in my professional & personal life, & both would have been far emptier without her. I am grateful for the laughter, the wisdom, the kindness & even the bratty, self-indulgent crap my beloved space-twin gave me through the years. Thanks Carrie. I love you, mh”

I didn’t know Carrie Fisher, never meet her and now never will. However her passing has hit me harder than I expected and as such I felt it seemed right to write something even if it’s a might brief.

Goodbye Carrie Fisher, you were an inspiration in life, and hopefully you will be rewarded with peace and happiness in death. Rest In Peace.

Thank you very much for reading I have been Vega Goose, Good night.
