Spoiler Talk Intro: Avatar the Last Airbender

Thank you all for tuning in to the inaugural post for Spoiler Talk! This where I will talk in-depth about my favourite shows, movies, comics, and other things I’m enthusiastic about. As for spoilers, Spoiler Talk is riddled with them. If  you have not seen the topics I will discuss, there will be spoiler warnings at the beginning of each entry. If the title ‘Spoiler Talk’ isn’t enough, well then at least I’ve prepared your mind for it. I’ve got a lot that I would like to cover, so it’d be best not to delay.

For my first foray, I’d like to discuss a popular cartoon – Avatar: The Last Airbender!

Good for everyone!

Good for everyone!

How it begins…

Airing on Nickelodeon in 2005, Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of the best shows I’ve ever watched that wasn’t actually meant for adults. I began watching the show at the end of the second season because my cousins were into it at the time. I initially made fun of the show because I thought the flying bison, Appa, was ridiculous. The irony is that Appa is one of my favourite characters, the reasons of which I’ll get into why when we get to the future seasons.

As it stands, I’m going to review each episode of this season in all of their Avatar-y goodness, and nitpick some details that I find interesting or odd. Spoiler Talk will mainly delve into my personal interpretation of the show and its themes. I welcome all constructive comments/criticism, and conversation in general about it.

I love this show. It’s surprisingly well-written, the music is engaging, the fight choreography is superb, and the story is top-notch. Honestly, I don’t why it isn’t bigger than it is. Sure, it was popular enough to get a continuation/spin-off show with the Legend of Korra, but there’s something special about Avatar: The Last Airbender that I can’t quite describe in one or two sentences.

Also, I don’t have many folks to talk about Avatar. When I talk about it, I can’t get into too much detail or people look at me funny. I get that enough already, but I believe that Avatar: The Last Airbender is worth talk about. I’d love to get my thoughts out there and this is a great way to do it. We’ll get started with the two-part introduction to the entire saga. So sit back, relax and grab a brew as we travel into this world to discover The Boy in the Iceberg.
