Hello, Enthusiacs. I am Goose, your host, and today I will be bringing you a text-based review of Game of Thrones Season 6. Fair warning: I am going to be covering a lot here, and with as many stories as there are on Game of Thrones, I may miss a few bits. In fact I’m mainly going to cover the main three stories.

WARNING THIS POST HAS SPOILERS FROM GAME OF THRONES SEASON 1-6

So another season of the epic smash hit HBO series has come to an end. As you may know, I am a huge fan of Game of Thrones and if you are looking for a spoiler free review I will place it here:

WATCH THIS SHIT! WATCH IT NOW!!

Ok, with that done, here be the spoilers.  Let us begin with the shank seen ’round the world at the end of season 5. Was Jon Snow alive or dead?  Well the answer was he was and he wasn’t. Like many of us had assumed, Jon Snow was brought back at the behest of the Lord of Light, if Melisandre is to be believed. Once back among the living, Jon wasted no time in taking his payback against those that betrayed him. In a very old west style scene, he hangs ’em high and I highly doubt anyone feels even remotely sorry for them.

He then declares his watch is over, and leaves the wall. I have to assume he will not be returning given how his story went this season. I must admit that him reunited with his sister Sansa was the right amount of sappy and epic so as to not feel like a campy moment that it very easily could have been.

However, it seems he has returned home just in time to face off with one of Game of Thrones’ biggest monsters: Ramsey Bolton. The remaining of his season arc sees him preparing an army to retake Winterfell, culminating in the titular “Battle of the Bastards” in episode 9.

This season Jon seems to finally be given some legit character growth. Seeing all the mistakes of his past, and rather than dwelling on them, he moves forward to become a leader of men and unlike his time as knight commander now he has the people at his back. No longer will he have half his would-be subjects openly opposing him. In fact, his only opponent right now seem to be Little Finger.

Now his story ends having retaken Winterfell, but more importantly, his story ends with the people proclaiming him the new King in the North. As a long-time viewer I can say it’s about damned time.

WalkOfAtonement

Moving on to Kings Landing we find Cersei Lannister, still mentally shaken having lost almost everything, hitting her low point in season 5 with the infamous walk of atonement. However this year, Cersei proves that she is one of, if not the smartest, craziest bitch in all of the seven kingdoms.

By the end of her arc things have radically changed. In fact, the end of her story this season makes most of what happens at Kings Landing pretty much pointless this year. Not to say that’s a bad thing. In fact, the use of Wild fire as a massive bomb is not only really smart but it is incredibly batshit insane.

On top of that, in one shot, we finally got rid of the Sparrows, the would-be king and the would-be queen  leaving things wide open for Cersei Lannister, first of her name, to be named the Lord of the Seven Kingdoms.

Taking her place on the iron throne. Long may she reign.

And finally we look at Daenerys Targaryen, and thank fuck this story is finally getting going. We began this season looking like it was going to be same old same old and it really, really wasn’t. Finally building up her army, Daenerys ends her story finally on the road to war to reclaim the iron throne.

So we come to the end of our story. I have purposely not revealed everything because I still want there to be things that shock you when you watch, and yes if you haven’t been able to tell, I highly recommend this show to everyone.

Until next time, I am Vega Goose and thank you for letting me geek out for a while.
